Thanksgiving is a Time of Giving

Thanksgiving

In just a few days, we will be celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday, a time for intentional gratitude and a time we share with family and friends. It is also a time of giving — thinking of those in need.

For many, Thanksgiving might mean a traditional turkey meal topped off with pumpkin pie at the end. However, there are others in our community who may not know where their next meal is coming from.

Did you know?

  • Every month, Harvesters provides nutritious meals and groceries to 141,000 neighbors in need.
  • Harvesters supplies food to 620 hunger-relief member agencies including food pantries, senior centers, homeless shelters, community kitchens, and after-school programs for kids.
  • Last year, Harvesters distributed nearly 45 million pounds of food and household products across our 26-county service area in northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas.
  • On any given night, there are nearly 2,000 homeless people on the streets of Jackson County?
  • One in ten who comes to the City Union Mission’s Men’s Shelter is a veteran.
  • he City Union Mission operates a Christmas Store where low-income families can shop for gifts at no cost.

Harvesters and City Union Mission are just two of the organizations in our community whose purpose it is to help those in need. There are many others.

Nash & Franciskato Law Firm

For us, every year, the Nash & Franciskato team along with James Legal Services conducts an annual Coat Donation for the homeless in Kansas City at City Union Mission. It is one way we give back to our community.

Thanksgiving provides us with an occasion to stop and say “thank you.” But we hope this feeling of goodwill lasts more than a day or a long weekend. Why not spread it out throughout the year, into the upcoming holidays and beyond?

From everyone at Nash & Franciskato, we hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
