A judge recently ruled in favor of a demand to make public dozens of Zimmer Biomet’s internal corporate documents; documents that were purposely kept hidden.
Some of the content found in these documents was a bit troubling. It appears the company’s priority was to make the most money. For instance, one unsealed memo talks about prioritizing the design and development of the Biomet M2a metal on metal hip as a “money project.”
With no mention of patient safety or pre-market testing, the company appears to have focused on putting sales over safety, with lines such as:
“It will have the biggest impact on Biomet’s bottom line.”
“… we should prioritize our work and develop the products that will make the most money for Biomet first.”
Read the document and see what you think.
Zimmer Biomet faces almost 20 jury trials brought by one legal team alone with the first trial scheduled for May 2020 in Seattle, WA.
